Do you take insurance?
We look forward to working directly with you. We are not in network with any insurance companies. However, we will provide you with a detailed superbill that you can submit to your insurance company if you have out-of-network benefits. Please contact your insurance company directly to determine your out-of-network benefits.
We cannot accept any Medicaid or OHP plans.
Fees
We offer variable rates depending on what services are right for your child. Please contact us to discuss services and rates. Payment is due at the time of the session. We accept cash, check, and most major credit cards. You can also use your HSA card. We use Stripe to process credit cards automatically after each session. No need to bring your credit card with you; once it is on file, our HIPPA-compliant system does the rest.
Therapy and consultations are billed at $175/hour
Evaluations are billed at $280/hour
Evaluations are time and labor intensive. They can take between 10 and 15 hours depending on the referral question. The evaluation process includes an initial intake with caregivers; face-to-face test administration with the child/teen; scoring and interpretation of test results; collaboration with other providers as clinically indicated; integration of background information, caregiver/teacher reports and the test results into a comprehensive written report; and a feedback session with caregivers.
After the intake session, you will receive a Good Faith Estimate for the costs of the evaluation.
Evaluations for academic or intellectual giftedness are billed based on time. These assessments are not insurance reimbursable.
Any requested written materials, school or home observation, communication over 15 minutes, and travel time will incur an extra fee to be discussed prior to billing.
What ages do you work with?
We can work with children from 5 to 18-years. Psychological screenings, early detection and diagnosis is key, so don’t hesitate to bring young child in to learn more about supporting their needs.
Can you take complicated cases?
Yes. Our team has been working professionally in child psychology since 2002 and have a wide range of diagnostic and therapy experience. We take extra time to understand each client we meet, and are comfortable taking on children and youth with complex needs.
How do evaluations work?
Our evaluation happens in-person at our Portland office. They take anywhere from 3-6 hours, and may be conducted over 1-2 days, depending on your child’s needs.
Within 3 weeks of the evaluation, your clinician will discuss their findings with you. You will also be provided with a detailed report, which can also be shared with child’s healthcare providers and schools.
We provide comprehensive, evidence-based, individually tailored evaluations for children and teens. We value individual differences and are affirming of all genders and neurotypes. The goal of an evaluation is to provide better understanding of your child/teen’s strengths and weaknesses. Although diagnoses can be useful to guide treatment recommendations, we do not view them as problems to be solved. Rather our goal is to focus your child/teen’s strengths, needs and challenges. At the end of the evaluation process, we hope children and teens will better understand themselves, and parents will better understand their children.
Our evaluations can also be used to clarify medical and mental health treatment recommendations, to help inform school accommodations and modifications (e.g., Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and 504 Plans) and to provide community-based recommendations (e.g., individual/family/group therapy, interest-based classes, schools, tutoring).
The evaluation process includes:
Intake session to review background information, past records, interventions tried so far and current concerns.
Consultation with pediatricians, other providers, teachers, etc.
Administration of parent, teacher and child questionnaires.
In-person evaluation session including administration of psychological assessments chosen to best address the referral question (usually involves 1 to 2 sessions ranging from 2 to 3 hours each).
Scoring, interpretation and report writing.
Comprehensive report with evaluation findings and scores.
Feedback session with parents/client to explain the results from the evaluation.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to cancel an appointment, please do so 24 hours ahead of time. Missed appointments and appointments cancelled less than 24 hours ahead of time will be charged the full hourly rate.
Inclement Weather
Please contact us at 503-707-0348 in the event of inclement weather to confirm your appointment. We will make every effort to contact you by phone and/or email in advance if the office will be closed due to weather-related concerns.
After Hours Emergencies
If your situation is an emergency, please contact your child’s primary care provider for advice, call 911 and/or take your child to the nearest emergency room.
For non-urgent concerns, please call our office at 503-707-0348 and leave a message.
Notice to Clients and Prospective Clients:
Under the law, health care providers need to give clients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, including psychotherapy and evaluation services.
You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency healthcare services, including psychotherapy and evaluation services.
You can ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule a service, or at any time during treatment.
If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
